For the longest time, I was stuck. Was it completely self-imposed? Probably, but I wouldn’t have admitted it at the time. Too many things came together to create one giant cluster F. I soon became paralyzed from being pulled in too many directions.
I wanted to be the perfect mom, wife, teacher, entrepreneur…etc. Things needed to be a certain way for me to move forward. It was a ‘take one step forward, two steps back’ situation. My offerings had to be perfect; website up and running, active blog and social media accounts. AND I could only get to those things after the kids’ finished their schoolwork for the day and I had picked up my elementary schooler. I had to keep the household running too. There was always laundry and dishes to be done. I put way too much pressure on myself. There weren’t enough hours in the day to do everything.
I needed to get unstuck and start making progress.
For those of you who don’t know me yet, I’m an odd combination of organized chaos and a distractable perfectionist, who wields the incredible powers of hyper focus, multi-tasking, and problem-solving. I proudly attribute my insane abilities to my role as wife and mom of 5. Without my wild and crazy brood, life wouldn’t be anywhere near as interesting. In fact, I never would’ve been forced to master all of these skills in order to save my own sanity day in and day out!
But back to that giant cluster…
I had just kicked off my business, signed a new mentor, and things were looking good, when I had to do a major pivot and homeschool my two middle schoolers, putting my entrepreneurial dreams on hold. Now I already had a two- and three-year-old at home and a middle child who still attended elementary school. So, this was a huge deal for the entire family, as the dynamic would soon throw everyone for a loop.
The key, it turned out, to getting unstuck is to simply start and make changes as needed. It seems obvious but oddly enough I didn’t try that for far too long. I was overwhelmed by the daily grind and stress of ‘getting it all done’ and doing it well. I also started to realize that my energy was so low some weeks, to the point where I was making myself show up, but not producing any quality work. Other weeks, the ideas flowed like a symphony. It became discouraging putting my business operations on hold until I could muster up the energy to get something done.
Aaaand that’s when it dawned on me…
Lunar energy! The moon has mystified and captivated many for generations. Most well-known is the moon’s gravitational-pull on earth and how it affects ocean tides. It also impacts melatonin and corticosterone levels in birds, reproduction in fish, taste sensitivity in lab rats, and immune response in mice and sheep! So it isn’t that far-fetched to think that the moon influences our energy as well. In fact, the lunar cycle mirrors the menstrual cycle! While tapping into lunar energy is a powerful practice in and of itself, nothing compares to listening to your body and leaning into that innate feminine energy.
It took a bit of research and a different point of view, but it changed everything! It has made all the difference for me and that’s why I created this easy-to-follow guide. It outlines how to align your business operations with both the phases of the moon and the menstrual cycle so you can follow whichever one resonates with you the most. I’d love to hear how implementing the cycle syncing method has affected your day-to-day operations.
